Question for you guys - Does the manufacturing process make a difference in performance?
I placed an order for a Spoon FW today with R&DMotorsports (thanks to Mingster and David!) and David mentioned this while I placed the order. Toda's FW has most of its weight around the hub area, whereas the Spoon took the weight out evenly through out the whole FW. David was busy answering phones, so we did not get into a deeper discussion on performance differences because of such difference.
Besides, I was on a limited budget and Spoon was all I could afford ....
What do you think?

I have the Toda, love it. No idle or starting problems but it's a bit choppy when you pull away and a little easier to stall as low RPMs. Quick as hell, much faster in 1st and 2nd, don't notice much in 3rd or above. Rev matching is awesome.
Mike, I highly doubt anyone will notice any difference between Spoon or Toda despite how differently they both are made.
After you are done with Spoon flywheel, ask Gregg if you can drive his car. He has Toda flywheel.
I've had Toda flywheels for nearly 40000 miles, so it is holding up pretty good, and I have no doubt it will give me much much more service life after this.
Spoon seems to be better made by the sounds of it, so you shouldn't have any problem with its service life either.

I am considering the Spoon clutch, since I already ordered the flywheel. I am just wondering if I should use a stronger PP and clutch disk with the lightened flywheel, or if the TSB 054 clutch is strong enough....
You won't have any problems with either flywheel. Spoon's a Honda tuner and Toda's been making lightweight flywheels for like 26 years or so, so they know their stuff when it comes to flywheels. I got one of the first Toda flywheels two years ago and now after 18,000 miles my impressions are still the same: one of the best mods out there.
And I have driven a car with a Spoon flywheel and it does feel different. like someone else mentioned Toda has all the weight near the hub while the spoon is on the outter. The Toda felt better while the spoon felt like what a shaved flywheel would respond like. There's more design and engineering put into the Toda.
