Does anyone know if switches to fit in the opening to the right of the steering column are available? It looks like there is a opening in the dashboard there that would be a great place to put a fog/driving light switch and make it look stock. Any ideas?

Thanks,

Greg

Someone needs to take a HID light kit and custom manufacture a button to sit in that empty slot so it looks stock (and incidentally, oh so sweet).

This was discussed a while back. Nobody could come up with a switch for that spot that looked correct. If you can find one let us know, because I know some of us want it!

Some folks wanted to use the switch for fog/driving lights, others were interested in using it to actuate a hard-wired garage door opener.

S2WOOOW installed a really neat switch in the pop-out panel on the right side of the steering wheel for his new running lights. I'll see if I can get a pic of it this weekend. I've also been thinking of installing HIDs soon, and I came across a black, round, press switch in Pep Boys which looks almost like a half scale version of the cruise control button. Nice looking. If I end up buying it, I'll take a pic of that one too. (BTW. I am definitely not going to be using any switch which has a toggle arm.)

I'm confused by these statements of a "HID light kit". It is my understanding that High Intensity Discharge lighting systems are not available in the aftermarket. I thought that fog/driving lights were simply inert gas filled filament bulb type lights (marketed as Halogen, Xenon, etc.). Please correct me if I'm wrong.

Looks like the opening is about the same as the cruise control switch. Wouldn't it be possible to use the cruise control switch and modify it?

That open spot IS for the Cruise Control switch but for the RHD cars. If you can find a CC switch for a RHD car it will fit in the slot. If you look closely at the entire "driver pod" it can be shifted over to the Right Hand side of the car and swap the buttons and switches for RHD vehicles. The Pod is common for both vehicles, pure genius if you ask me.

I might put the switch for my Rear Defroster (Hard Top) there.
Honda calls for it to be put in the middle console (hole drilled)
I think it would look better in the dash!

CoralDoc: No, actually, TRUE HID fog light (or driving light) kits exist on the market today. They are very expensive, starting at about $899.00 a pair and going up to nearly $2,000. The only company that *I* know of that makes the honest to goodness, top quality, HID driving light kits is Raybrig. They are "hella expensive" though.

Go to Raybrig's product page located here: http://www.raybrigusa.com/html/products.html and look at the HID Assist Lamp series, or go straight to the line up page at: http://www.raybrigusa.com/html/hid_series.html

Take a look at the square shaped Type 200 and the two round shaped Type 100 lamp sets. The Type 100 is available in a regular lense and in a lense that has a half "fog" film on the top half to generate a half "fog light" beam with its HID ballast setup. Pretty cool, eh?
