Default Forget silly V6 swaps!

Forget that silly J series swap. Hinson Supercars, pioneers of the V8 FD RX-7, are developing a LSX conversion for the S2000 to be used in both street and race applications:

I'm sorry but none of this stuff is anything new.

The LS motors are the male whore of motors (after the old 350chev), they've been between the frames of nearly everything out there.

The J series motors have been in civics, and integras, and.... and... the only reason I am interested in them is because I have an 08 Accord.

I don't know why people would want to pull the F series motors. They work great, 4-500hp out of a 4 banger is a lot cooler than 5-600hp out of a V8.
Furthermore, anything more than what forced induction can bring to an S2k is just ridiculous.

Can you atleast close the hood in this setup?

Here's one

Wow. I called the bitching and bashing. Didn't take long.

Your links failed, BTW.

Yes, the swaps have been done, but Hinson is doing something different. Hinson is well respected because they created a PACKAGE that any average Joe can install in his garage. They have built up an incredible reputation with the RX-7 community. Hell, it may sound stupid, but I would NEVER own a rotary powered RX-7... but I've considered buying an LSx powered RX-7 on multiple occasions. It may be my next toy.

And yes, the F20C/F22C is capable of 400-500hp... FORCE INDUCED. Don't get me wrong, I LOVE the F series engine, but the simple truth is that no FI setup will EVER be as reliable as a good ole V8... not to mention the torque on tap is far superior to any big turbo setup (LAGGGG) or supercharger that needs to be in the upper end of the RPM range.

I don't get the 2JZ-JTE swap in the S2000.. or the J series V6... but a nice V8 makes perfect sense to me IN CERTAIN APPLICATIONS. I am very excited about what Hinson is doing.

i am on the other side of the coin... i am a honda guy through and through, owning and racing hondas for for over 20 years. BUT, i really like the simplistic brute power of the lsx motors. the motors are fairly bulletproof, and it is the only thing gm has done correctly in recent memory.

the s2000 chassis is phenominal, and i have been wanting to do this project for some time. i think if it is done correctly, the car will be an awesome all around performing monster. sure, you can get the same power with f/i, but it will never have the instant on power/torque of a redneck v8. wtf cares it is "doesnt sound right".

i will be following this very closely... thanks for posting

agreed... the personality of the entire car is lost once that engine note has changed, the high revving engine characteristic... it's just what makes the car a perfect package imo
