Default Found Some Spring Spacers!

Hey guys, well after reading the topic of Dont's... One DON'T subject really interested me, and that was the one about not driving another mile if you find the spacers.... Well guess what guys! I FOUND THEM! Now I was wondering how to go about reporting this to the dealer. Should there be a lawsuit in consideration, because this could potentialy put my life and others at risk in the worst case scenario. I know it may seem harsh, but if you really think about it, it is a very serious problem. And if some lawsuits come out of it, that might make the dealers serious and actually take care of this. I am going to take photo's of the spacers on my car as extra proof, because I know how shadey dealers can be.

Thanks

p.s. I have just over 1000 miles.

I think a law suit is a good idea. First you, or your next of kin, has to show damages.

Take photos of the spacers. Give the photos to your true love. Drive until you die. Then let your next of kin sue Honda for wasting your life.

Of course, Honda's attorney might argue that your next of kin shouldn't get the windfall, since you KNEW about the spacers and drove anyway. Not to worry. You'll be gone already and won't taste the disappointment.

I am not driving since I have found the spacers! Thanks for the smart ass remark on a serious subject though. Im not saying I want to try and sue the pants off them, Im just saying that is probably the only way its going to get thru to them that they need to nip this shit in the butt.

Well, if anyone is responsible its the negligent dealership who recieved the car and failed to properly do the PDI. But, of course Honda should be emphasizing the importance of removing the spring spacers and doling out some punishment for dealerships that don't. I agree with you, that it's ridiculous for this problem to be so rampant. What year is your car, please don't tell me its '01 and you've been driving for 3 years with ths in..

this is why i verified with the salesman, service man, and more importantly myself at home that there were NO spring spacers in my MY04...thanks S2Ki for making me aware of this issue

and no, bringing a lawsuit probably not worth your while, but you could go to the dealership and try and get some free oil changes or services out of it...but then do you really want that dealership to service your car?

Despite the tone of his post, what Barry is saying is correct. In order for you to file a tort lawsuit against an entity, there must have been quantifiable damage or harm done to you by the entity. You did not incur any harm or damage before you found the spacers, therefore you have no grounds to sue anyone over the matter.

Andrew

P.S. Hey Barry! I remember you from Preludeonline.com. Glad to see you still have the 93 VTEC. Judging by the pic in your sig, it looks like it's still in amazing shape! I just sold my 00 Prelude last weekend. So I am currently Prelude-less for the first time in over 7 years.

So, what your saying is potential harm is ok. And that it's ok for them to leave it on... Just until somthing bad happens. Ok, good enough for me. I will take my car happily to the dealer to have them taken off.
