Good question. I think the real issue here is the people who own an S2K but don't visit any forums. They will never be aware of the potential problem unless Honda takes some proactive measure. This could be a letter to all owners stating that spacers may have inadvertently left on their car, and over a free check by the dealer at the next visit.

It would not take much time on the dealer's part, and would be viewed as a goodwill measure by the owner.

Slightly off-topic but...

IMO, PDI is a drain on resourses (i.e., profit) from a dealer perspective. They have sold you the car, most likely the money is in their pocket and most consumers aren't educated enough to know what should be included as part of the PDI. They are happy to drive off the lot in their brand new shiny car, happy as a pig in sh$t.

I purchased a Pilot a few months ago and pulled the PDI from the HondaPilot.org. The salesman nearly fell over when I crawled under the truck and subsequently refused delivery because underbody plugs (used to tie down the truck for transport) and a small interior trim piece was not installed - - - both part of the PDI.

Since it was a Saturday, service was closed. The other salemen came over and said no one ever looks under the truck. I told them that they had better get the items installed and give me a copy of the signed PDI with the tech's name. They actually pulled them from a truck that was just delivered (I feel sorry for that person) and installed them.

I think it is consumer beware.

BTW, I nailed the dealership in the Consumer Satisfaction Survey and spoke with the Service and General Manager.

I am not driving since I have found the spacers! Thanks for the smart ass remark on a serious subject though. Im not saying I want to try and sue the pants off them, Im just saying that is probably the only way its going to get thru to them that they need to nip this shit in the butt.
Yes, it is a serious subject and yeah, he was being a bit of a smart ass, but I kind of agree with his point.

Believe it or not, calling the lawyers every time someone makes a mistake is "not" the answer to everything. Here in the US, it seems to be the end all, be all answer to any problem. And it's wrong!!!

I would definitely call Honda and register a complaint. I would definitely take the spacers to the dealership and hand them to who ever is in charge of new car make ready, in front of the general manager!! I would definitely give them a good tongue lashing over this but I "would not" file a law suit.

You found the problem (which is a good thing) but you were not harmed, your car was not damaged, and you are NOT entitled to any compensation over this. That's JMO!

Drive Safe,
Steve R.

I am sure that this is a stupid questions, but here goes:

How does one check to see if the spacers were removed?

Thanks.

Jack up the car and take the wheels off. Visually inspect the suspension springs. Also reach around to the back of them in case there's one that's blocked from you view by the shock. There should be absolutely nothing at all between the coils of the springs.

You don't have to take the wheels off, just jack the car up and use a flashlight while feeling around the springs.

I don't think you can sue for damages that COULD have happened to you. Otherwise I would be suing everytime someone cuts me off and a there is a potential accident.
