Found a unicorn, not sure what to do...
Ok, so I own an '06 s2k that I absolutely love, and have zero intention on selling. Monday, I ran into a woman who said her and her husband had an s2000 they needed to sell. She said it had low miles and wasn't advertised, but couldn't give specifics on what year the car was, or the mileage. I gave her my number and her husband sent me pictures the next day with more detailed info on the car and my jaw hit the floor!
'02 Silverstone
1 owner
garage kept
12,700 miles (that's not a typo)
asking $19,995
So, here's the dilemma... It would make 3 cars I own including my daily driver that I need to keep for gas mileage (s2k sucks on gas). I love my '06 Suzuka blue s2k for the rarity of the color combination, but should I sell it to pay cash for the Silverstone? How could I possibly pass on this gem???
I should also add that I've owned a low mileage (rarer) vehicle before, and it kind of keeps you from driving it due to the low mileage. I didn't like that feeling. Cars are made to be driven, especially the S.
Thoughts? Buy? Sell the Suzuka blue? Pass??

And its not so much a unicorn......
Here's a 2000 S2k with 2894 miles that just sold 9 days ago on eBay for $17,400 on a "buy it now".
Clean low milege ones are getting harder to find but they're out there, especially if you're patient.....
2000 Honda S2000 Base Convertible 2-Door | eBay
whether you should buy it depends on what you want in an S2k---the 2002's still had the plastic rear window, smaller wheels, no VSA, and is more "tail happy" than the later years......none of these are for me but if they're what you want, go for it.....

Is it in better shape than yours? How many miles a year do you drive your S2k? How many years would it take at said mileage to get to the point of where you're at on your current Ap2 now? In saying that, if the math all added up, I'd sell your AP2 and get the AP1. But that's just me. I'm an AP1 kind of guy as well. So take my advise with a grain of salt. Also, I wouldn't worry about keeping the miles low. I bought a low miles '01 S2k thinking the same thing. But then I cleared myself of those thoughts, modded the piss out of it, and have been racking up track miles since. But it was nice to know I was starting with a babied car that had been well cared for....which it sounds like you'd be getting as well.
Of course we're all just wasting time giving you feedback here. The choice is up to you. Follow your heart. Good luck with whatever you decide...and most of all, enjoy!
