Freeway gear: 5th or 6th?
2nd gear if I am at 64 or less. 1st gear on all residential streets. I like to drive around bouncing off the limiter all the time. Bahh bahh bahh bahh bahh bahh .... And when others shift near me I yell "too soon junior!"
Or I just drive in the highest gear that does not lug down, since it saves gas and that is how you are supposed to drive.. .downshifting when you actually need to accelerate....

The information provided in this thread is priceless. The next time I am in an HPDE drivers' meeting I will inform the S2K people that they need to be shifting into 6th gear any time they exceed 52 mph. I will also suggest that anyone engaging their rev limiter should be black flagged. My new mantra: Gas mileage good, torque bad.

And higher gas mileage is good. Leave it to the track day guy who thinks his lightly modified Honda makes him Nigel Mansell to misinterpret things.
For those who who are new this car and didn't read the owner's manual:

TIL some people consider cruising on the highway in VTEC as normal. What kind of situation warrants sitting near redline on the highway so you can "have an extra gear when you want it"? When exactly would you "want it" if not then?
