Default Friendly Reminder: Check your oil level!!!

I just remembered to check mine last night and my car didn't even have enough to reach the first X on the dip stick. I had to put a whole quart in and I need to buy another one at lunch today. This car requires that you monitor this often, if you haven't done it in awhile go check now.

Which brings me to another point has anyone installed an oil pressure gauge? Could this tell me when my oil is getting low. I have a feeling that the stock Honda oil light only goes off like 3 seconds before catastrophic engine failure.

It's a scary sight when you look at the dip stick and you don't see any oil registering. I have learned to check my oil at least every other tank of gas, even then, I keep a quart of oil in my trunk just in case.

I think a spare quart of oil should be a new standard feature in this car (maybe for 2005).

good reminder...
dont think an oil pressure gauge would help, unless you are really looking for last minute info-
by the time the pressure is low from not enough oil, the engine could be smokin!

Here's my tip. Every time you check the oil, set the tripmeter to zero. Then you always know how long it's been since you last checked.

wow i would kill myself if i let the engine oil go down below the x's on the dipstick. you guys really need to watch out, this engine is oil hungry and running the engine dry is a good way for early engine failure.

Yea. I checked mine a while ago and I had to add a quart. Kind of surprised me so I do check it more often now. I hear it's normal for them to consume oil; more so than a typical engine. Do they also consume oil if you drive normally in the 3-4k rpm range or just in VTEC?

Mine's been burning pretty much no oil (less than 200ml for the last two oil changes) so the car hit 9500 miles. Cool, so I switch to synthetic. Checked after oil change and car was at "F", checked three weeks ago and was down 200ml (one X, didn't add any), checked this morning, and it was down a total of 3 X's (600ml).

I usually check it on every fillup - if not, then I check it on the following weekend.
