Default Front bars, understeer and tire choices

Hello all. First let me introduce myself. I picked up my S2000 two weeks ago, and am planning on autocrossing it in stock class. I traded a 03 MINI H Stock for the S2000. I am by no means a top level driver, hence my user name (I'm the 90% that makes the top 10% possible.) I traded the Cooper to have a better street car and still stay competive between the cones. (the car. not the driver).
I am looking for a front bar, and have read the threads on the lack of availability of Saner and Grendon bars. Is the $700 justified for the Comptech, and how is it on the street?
My thinking is with a stiffer, 127% over stock on lowest setting, bar the rear to front tire stagger does not have to be 245/205, or are 245s defacto required.
I have a set of 17" Yoko Advan Neuova AD07s in 215/45 235/45 waiting to put on the car when TireRack gets the SSR Comps in stock. (Listed as August). Will the Comptech be able to compensate for the lack of a 245/40 rear tire and then still be able to handle a 245 later? Or have a made a wrong tire choice? (I really didn't choose the 235. 245s were unavailable in Thailand at the time). I figure by the time I wear out the 235s, 245/40s will be for sale in the states.
Shocks will be next after the front bar and alignment, Hoosiers are a given. What is a good alignment for both the street and auto-x. I searched in the Racing Forums and found good tips, but I need a compromise for my daily driver.
Thanks, in advacance, for the advice.
Chris

have you tried running it in stock trim yet... its a very competitive car.. after that you can make your own judgement on what needs to be upgrade...

Here is a link to the "UK alignment" thread I did. This alignment setting was something UK Honda came up with some some track testing after some handling customer complaints. It is more aggressive than the stock alignment, but not quite a full track/autocross alignment.

As long as you keep the stagger the same between your track tires and street tires, your static understeer/oversteer characteristics should be the same. Whether or not you can accept the ride quality and tire wear is up to you.

I have the comptech adj sway bar and it's totally worth the cash. I've lived with aftermarket sway bars that rattled and made noises in the past and I just couldn't stand that. I haven't heard a single solitary peep out of the comptech and I've been using it for about 4 months now. It's invisible really. Install it, adjust it and forget it. I read all about the noises and problems people are having with their bars (non-comptech) and I'm reminded just how nice the comptech piece is.

I wouldn't worry about the street behavior of my car so much because once you get used to pushing it like you do in auto-x you'll find that you just can't push it like that on the street. Just set it up for auto-x and live for the weekends.

I would have reccomended against the wheel "upgrades" anyway so I really can't comment on that.

Have fun.

I will also recommend the Comptech bar. That combined with sticky rubber are the two best upgrades for autocrossing. Check out the Racing and Competition forum for more info on specifics. Also, the car WILL understeer on the street with OEM rubber when the Comptech bar is set properly for autocrossing. It's not easy to change the settings, so I just lived with the understeer knowing that the car would be nicely balanced on the track and autocross course.

You won't be able to run 17" wheels in BS stock class. Last weekend I co-drove in a local auto-cross with a "properly" setup Saner bar at full stiff. W/properly sized 16" Kumho auto-cross tires the car stuck awesome compared to my stock car w/16" Toyo RA1's.

I haven't read the alignment threads for a while, but from what I remember, a lot of people were recommending -1.5 camber front and -2 rear. I'm running -1.7f and -2.4r with zero toe, Saner bar on mid setting, and Volk 17's with 235/275 tires. Car seemed perfet at Sebring for two sessions, then my rotor cracked. As comparded to stock, the car was waaay more predictable and controlable while doing laps 15 seconds faster than stock.
