Default Front Bumpers without Plates

On cars that never had front plates installed, are the two little bumps that cover the holes where the plate screws go supposed to come out?

I'm looking at an AP2 now and want one that never had the front license plate installed but just noticed that the two plugs appear a different shade and can be popped out.

That AP2 is the way it's supposed to be.

Supposedly all of the cars come with the plugs. I think in front-plate states the dealers hold them or toss them.

I work at a dealership and they all come plugged from the factory. Dealerships will prep the car and remove the plugs to install the front plates with their dealername on it. They all have the holes drilled w plugs unless you find one w a shaved bumper done by a shop like mine.

The plugs were probably in the glove compartment and didn't fade like the rest of the paint. Or they're just new plugs (still available).

As noted the plugs are standard. As are the holes!

Thanks for the replies. They made me feel a lot more comfortable pulling the trigger. I can't tell you how sick I felt after driving 500 miles to see the car and saw that the plugs just popped out. I've been searching for the perfect AP2 the past two years and finally found my unicorn. An unmolested 1 owner 2004 Silverstone/Black with 11,000 miles and no scars from a front license plate. I can't tell you how much I love the thing.

Ohio requires a front plate so I have one. I know several guys who don't display one but I don't need to give the police any (other) excuse to delay my trips! I'd be happier without one but it looks normal now.

This thread reminds me that when I paint my car in a few years I am having those stupid bumper holes filled and painted over.

Had to get a new bumper cover due to someone changing lanes into my car. Had shop fill the holes prior to painting. They didn't charge me.

Previously had been running the little hole covers. My state, CT, requires front plate, but so far no issues. Perhaps due to car being totally stock, and me being well into middle age, I don't show up on cops radar so much.

If I get a fix it ticket, I'll double-stick tape plate holder in place.
