The main differences are materials, size of the holes, and method of mounting:

Coastal Metals (hondas2000accessories.com) - Stainless Steel, larger holes, and brackets/ screws.

Grille Tech (ebay) - Powder coated steel, smaller holes, and zip-ties.

I have one of each. They are both excellent quality and look great. If you are looking to save money, Grille Tech is the way to go. If you want stainless and don't mind paying extra... the CM grille is worth the cash.

From what I understand, several front grills have been tested by people. ALL of them seem to raise engine temperatures. I don't think it is worth the effort to install something that is less functional than stock. JMO.

That depends on how much it increases the engine temperature. I'm planning on adding the coastal metals grill simply for protection. I would not want a rock or other debris to wipe out my AC condensor or radiator while cruising down the highway. It will also prevent stray cones from attacking those components if I ever have an autocross mishap.

Go with the Coastal Metals grill. I've had my stainless on since new in June 01. It looks great after two cross country trips and a total of 18,000 miles of mixed highway and city driving. It also is very satisfying to wash the huge bugs and debris off the screen after a road trip, and know that my rad and condensor are better off.
As to over heating-- a rad covered in bugs is going to overheat, whereas a grill several inches ahead of the rad covered in bugs will aid in cooling.
Maybe if you are tracking the car, take the grill off before you race.

While temperature may be an issue for some we have tested the grill and yes it does increase engine temps, there are ways to decrease the ambient engine bay temperature.

I have the CM center grill and think it is the way to go to prevent damage. At one point, you had a system of side grilles and tubing to introduce additional air behind the front grill and ahead of the condenser but it was difficult to install. Have you improved this kit to make it easier to install or is it a dead issue? Are the old kits still available?
We have come up with the Coastal Metal CAI, this returns the ambient temps of the engine bay and condenser, before a front grill is added.

We have had this kit on our S2000 for over a year, with no problems.

We now have 65,000 miles on the MY00 #233

Happy Holidays
