Anyone know how tough Virginia is on the front plate thing?

Need to know since I'm moving there in March.

I do not have a front plate on my S or on my truck. I have NEVER been stopped for this and I have driven cross country 3 times as well as driving up and down the California coast. I have never heard of a license check point though. That's kind of weird if you ask me. Folks, what it boils down to is this. Do not put a front license plate on your S. It's just plane ugly and it ruins the lines of the car. If you start to get pulled over numerous amounts of times just don't drive that way anymore. If you still get pulled over, then you should consider moving out of town or out of state. If that does not work you might just want to put the car away in storage for a long time. Again, just make sure the front plate is not on. Isn't it an S2Ki rule that front plates are not allowed?? To Plate or Not to Plate? That is the question.....

Funny i got a 512 doller fix it ticket for no front plate in san deigo.
Trust me it sucks really really bad. I have had close to 3 of them and they are getting on my nerves. But I have most likly saved about 4000 bucks on red light tickets because of this. ( I work in mira mesa you can sit in the middle of a intersection for 10 minutes at a time occationally.

I have lived in CA my entire life and have never owned a car that has a license plate on the front! Knock on wood - no tickets... not even a fixer-upper.

However, I have heard that in areas that have red light cameras (i.e. downtown SF) they are getting scrict about this. But red light cameras take pictures of the front and back of the car, so I don't see what the problem is...

It pissed me off when the dealer put a front plate on my wife's Volvo! Now there are two holes in the bumper where the bracket used to be!

By law, you must have front plate...
But it really depends on where you live in CA... some places like Santa Monica, Beverly Hills and mostly
west side of LA... cops are quite strict about not having front plate (I got two fix-it ticket already)
whereas on other places, it's not as strict...
From what I understand, Santa Monica and Beverly Hills are more strict b/c of cameras at intersections,
for those that ran red lights...

Does it require to drill holes on the front bumper on S2000's??? (I see two bumps in the front)
If you already drilled holes... anything you can use to cover it back up??

Oh, btw... fix it ticket is $10...

I actually keep the front plate as an "anti-dent" device. It does a nice job prevent people denting the front bumper when I leave my car parked on the street. Keeps some bugs off the bumper too.

I had a $10 fix-it-ticket in SF 2 months ago, because they are putting cameras at almost all stop lights and they will take a picture of the front of your car if you run a red light.

Seems like a lot of variation on what a front plate ticket costs. Is it $10, $75, or $512 or all three somehow????

Not sure why this is the case... I think the ticket is $10 if you have it signed off by an officer after
the officer verified that you've put back on the plate.

CHP's are usually quite easy going on these type of tickets...
Here's my experiences with them...

I walked into CHP's office...
"I'm here for the front plate fix-it ticket."
"Ok, did you fix it?"
"Yes."
"Ok, let me sign it."

Another is...
"I'm here for the front plate fix-it ticket."
"Ok, please park your car in front of this window so that I can see your plate from here."
"Ok."

I said this on another thread.... I've never had a front plate on any car that I can remember. They're ugly and on cars like the S2k they can interfere with airflow.
My story is that the dealer was out of brackets when my car was delivered and he hasn't called me yet, but I will check with him and get the plate installed.
