Default front license plate mount problem

I tried to install the plugs for the front license plate bolt holes tonight. The passenger side plug popped right in, but when I tried to stick the plug in the driver side, the threaded fittings popped loose from the backside. The fittings are now too loose to get the plug in, so how do I fix this since I can't seem to find any access to that area to get my hand in there. Will I have to remove the front fascia to get to the back side to fix it? The car is only 3 weeks old and is covered by warranty, but I'd hate to take such a trivial problem to the dealer.

You'll probably have to remove the front bumper to fix this. You may feel confident enough in your ability to do this yourself, otherwise you'll have to take it back to the dealership.

hum, I thought I was the only one who had that problem.

Anyway, I fixed it by shaving the prongs down so they would slide insed the now loose nut. Before fully mounting I used some silicone caulk to hold it in place. Then pushed them in place trying to get them into the nut as far as possible. Then wiped away the excess caulk and used some tape to hold in place till dry.

Worked for a good 15,000 miles till I decided to remove due to too many fines

You might be able to use a magnet and some crafty moves to position the bracket deal it back into place, which is what I did. Ultimately though, the plugs probably aren't going to fit perfectly snug unless you drop the bumper. Good luck.

Apparently, there are two of us that have this weird stuff happen.
The silicone trick sounds like a very quick and easy fix, so I'll probably do that myself. Florida doesn't have a front plate, so I won't be using the holes anyway. Thanks for the tip.

No problemo

As someone mentioned, you may need to use a magnet or something to get the nut up into position.

same thing happened to me. i fixed it by putting glue on the bumper part to where the bolts rest. then pulling the bolt into position (lining it up to the hole) using a screw driver, then using the screw that came with the bolt, by slowly screwing it in to the bolt holes and pulling it out into position. give it a full day to dry and you're all set.
