Ya I went to Honda and he the parts guy said it was more for something to do with water and keeping some of it away from the tires as well as directing some air away.

I don't think I've ever had mine and have been at 150 before and 110+ somewhat frequently at the track...its always been stable to me. Is it really going to get that much more stable?

Installation of an OEM front lip, CF or Jell-O, has nothing to do with those under strakes.

I have an aftermarket front end and still have those strakes in place

....and to the OP - I would replace them - what's going to protect the car next time you hit the garage entrance?

If you bolt on some little "jingle bells" to those strakes, you can have some very high priced "curb" feelers (well "cement block" feelers).

[QUOTE=RED MX5,Jan 17 2006, 07:10 PM] Our local Honda dealer tried to argue with me, insisting that the front strakes were an option that didn't come on the cars from the factory.

No, mount a camera under the spoiler. When you rip the camera off on a curb the video goes away.

I've been to 135, with and without the strakes, and before and after lowering the car 1". Subjective evaluations are notoriously unreliable, but at the stock ride height it did seem that the car was ever so slightly more stable with the strakes. Might have just been the result of expectation bias though, so take it with a grain of salt. After the car was lowered I don't think there was any difference with and without the strakes. Remember though, we're taking about small differences at best, and subjective evaluations of small deltas are generally meaningless. What I'd like to ask is that you get a set of strakes and put them on your car, and tell us whether or not you notice any difference in feel or lap times. Think you could do that?
you know what...thats not a bad idea...I don't know when the next track day is, but its a while away.

I can buy them, run the 2 morning runs without them...install them...since they look easy enough, and do the 2 afternoon runs with them. Then maybe that will be worth something...at least it should be worth something to me.

Does anybody remember the 2005 post with the air pressure diagrams on the S2000 model with and without the strakes? The strakes reduced air pressure at the front tire/ground.
