I did a rough check on the toe-in on my car with straight edges and confirmed that I have negative toe-in. A quick look in the manual shows a spec of +/- 2mm. Can someone tell me what this spec means and where the measurement is taken?

I assume that it is the difference between the distance between the front tires at their centerline as compared to the front leading edge? True or False?

If my assumption is correct, my rough measurement on my car extrapolates to negative 1.5mm. Final question - doesn't negative toe-in affect steering stability at higher speeds?

Merry Christmas to all!

I actually thought total toe is the difference front to rear at the axle line. I have no experience with manual measurement, but am pretty sure zero front toe is right for most cars including the S2000 (I

How did you measure your toe? Do you have the right tools? Accuracy is imperative a little difference can make huge changes. As far as tools, at the minimum you must have a tire scribe and toe gauge, this will give you a "rough" measurement.

Toe-in, front or rear will make your car more stable at high-speed. Toe-out can make the car wander. Toe-in, F or R also makes the car understeer. Most rear drive drive cars have front toe-in. During hard braking and acceleration, tires tend to toe-out. Depends on the deflection of the suspension, harder bushings counteract this condition, at the cost of a harsher ride.

Merry x'mas to all.

BBSpoon -
I agree that measuring without a front-end alignment machine is rough at best. My son and I used some 6Ft long straight edges and the results were only good enough for me to believe that I need to take the car in have the negative toe adjusted out.

Thanks for the info.
