Default fuel consumption

Everytime I look down at the fuel gauge, its nearly empty! All kidding aside, I seem to be burning fuel pretty quick in my new MY04 with just over 300 miles. Does milage improve over time, or is this good (around 280 mi per tank, city driving). Not too heavy-footed and waiting to VTEC until after 600 miles. How accurate is the MY04 digital gauge? When its on the last bar, how close to empty am I really?

Regardless of how often I have to fill up I LOVE this car!

Sh_t I wish I could get 300 even 280 would be nice. I get like 240 maybe 255 if I baby it around but that is mostly city driving. Never really done alot of freeway maybe then I can get 280.

I too have a MY04 with 1300 miles and you think it's bad now wait till you start kicking her in the pants(VTEC) Then the gas really flows quick. I am seeing about the same milage as you are, if I don't use VTEC too much, but what FUN would that be?

i used to get like 200 per tank, when i first got mine. but now with 3300 mi. i get about 220-230 by shifting about 3500rpm or so, and that is with the occaisional vtec. in other words yes, it does get better, don't know how, but it does.

I've found that I'm putting in a little over 10 gallons when the gauge reads empty. The owners manual says we have a 13 gallon tank so I imagine there is a couple gallons to tap once you hit 'E'.
Naturally highway crusing milage is better and track milage is worse. I got about 18-19 MPG on my last tank.

I got 29mpg on my first 300 mile trip home after purchasing the car from my dad in Pittsburgh.
In Philly suburbs now though I only get around 18mpg...and that's with 4k rpm shifts.
