Default Fuel efficiency during break in?

Did your S2K seem to use a lot of fuel during the break in period?

Don't know if it's my imagination but my car seems to have used 2 or 3 bars of fuel since I left work last night. Being that I only work about 6 miles from home that seems ridiculous especially since I'm always shifting before 5K and didn't take the car out last night...? 2 bars = 12 miles...!?

Will this get better, Is the car programed to run rich during break in?

Yes, mine did.
Your fuel econ will get better over time. Also, I know keeping your rev under 6k rpm helps

I really noticed no difference at all actually. See my .sig for mileage from delivery to last month.

Don't mean to steal the thrad, but I have a related question.

How accurate is the digital gas meter in the s2k? I've been in a lot of american cars with digital instruments, and the gas meters are not acurate at all. Is it better with the s2k?

Don't pay much attention to the first 2 bars. They seem to go out about 3 blocks after I leave the gas station. It's been the same since I got the car. Just keep a record through your break-in period.

I just broke over 2000 miles and my mileage really hasn't changed much. Between 24 and 25 no matter how I drive. Not complaining and thinking it may get a bit better with time.

Haven't done a long freeway trip, but my daily commute is 12 miles each way, freeway. Usually hit some traffic, so hardly a typical freeway cruise.

I cannot comment about break in - but with 6000 miles on the odometer I recently filled up, drove 115 miles on the Interstate at 72, then ran four passes on autocross, then drove home the same 115 miles, but at 80-90 MPH 236 miles, 8.948 gallons - 26+ MPG! I am very satisfied with that kind of fuel consumption.
