Default How often does your fuel gauge read

As such?

I keep forgetting how small the tank is, despite driving this car for 5000 miles. I'll have a 1/2 tank and the next thing I know I'm on empty... Of course, I'm used to a 35 gallon tank on the CTD truck, which despite poor fuel economy runs over 400 miles a tank...

I better keep a closer watch before I end up walking...

I don't disagree, I still get caught off guard on how quickly it goes from 1/2 to nothing...

Rarely on any of my cars. Of the mindset that half a tank is safer should there be an emergency.

Nearly every tank.
When the warning light comes on, usually with two bars left, I know I have a range of 40 miles. I then know it's time to fill up - but only when convenient, not necessarily right away. So the gauge almost always goes to zero during those 40 miles. Total distance travelled per tank is usually 250 to 300 miles depending on how I'd been driving.

The other day my gas gauge was reading very low. I finally got to a gas station thinking I had just drops of gas left and the gas pump shut off before I even reached 10 gal! These gauges are funny sometimes.

This car's tank drops very rapidly below 1/4 of a tank. It's not proportional AT ALL - which drives me nuts. I'll be cruising along with 1/4 of a tank or so then in 15 miles I'm on nothing. Pretty scary, really.

That said, I've never actually run out of gas with this car.

I'll park on a hill and my quarter tank will be on red with the light. I don't plan on messing up my fuel filter so keep it filled up.

this.

i'll leave for work on little under a quarter tank[ an 18 mile trip TOPS] and have the gas light flashing at me 2/3rds into the journey. fill up, and pump cuts at 10gal.
