Default Fuel level affecting performance?

Is it normal for the amount of fuel you have in your tank to affect acceleration? I've noticed that it greatly affects mine. Even without regard to fuel level, my car seems fast some times and slow sometimes.

2002 with only an OEM lip and OEM wing, both which would have no effect.

The difference in weight between 1 gallon and a full tank is about 90lbs. That can be noticeable in acceleration.

Weird. I feel that way with my Maxima. It feels more responsive with less lag when the tank is full opposed to when the tank has 1/4 fuel left.

Yess definately less weight and better exceleration with less gas. Say 3-4bars as oppose to full tank. A 5gallon tank of water is 50ish lbs. My S holds 11-12 gallons....go figure.

"hiper" you prolly running on fumes thats why. or using 87 grade?

the butt dyno lies. you're perceiving a change that isn't really there. the weather will really be the only thing that will affect your day to day driving.

Yeah, we've been having crazy weather here in NY, and last week when it was in the 30's it felt like a rocket, but now that it's in the 60's it's starting to feel slugish....

There was a thread a while back with some members posting the same thing. Some theorized it had something to do with how much fuel is readily available when called upon by the throttle. I suppose that would depend on how low it truly is?

My car *feels* a lot faster and more nimble with the tank nearing empty.
