Default Full respray questions.

I may have the opportunity to respray my S with MC Blue. (The color I would have bought if possible in the US). My question is to those who have done custom or full respray on their cars.

1: Those lame dimples along the bottom of the sides of the car. What do they do, will I be loosing much to sand/smooth them out and then paint or what?

2: The strut towers in the engine, do you have to pull the engine to get those well covered? If I'm going to change the color, it's going to be right. everything stripped as much as possible and all the parts painted and you shouldn't be able to tell it wasn't MC from the factory, so these are issues for me.

I was told those dimples near the bottom were to protect the paint from getting all scuffed up from grave and such. Not sure though. I was told this by a mazda techician who was talking about the RX7 which has the same thing. If you remove it, just clear bra the that area or something.

As for the engine, it usually needs to be dropped to fully paint the engine compartment.

I'd leave the Stoneguard as it is, but that's just one opinion.

Since you've decided on MC, leaving the crossmember and strut towers Silverstone would actually be a nice compliment to one another. Your intake is already aluminum.

I dunno, it just seems like it'd be so....half-arse...I dunno, opinions? Would the strut towers and crossmember look ok unpainted? I'd even consider powdercoating the valvecover to match the silverstone.

About the valve cover and before changing its color, what engine mods do you have or plan to get soon?

Hrm. Interesting... I meant no offense, Skip, I like what you've done. Do you think I'll run into anymore of an issue with a MC Blue exterior and Silverstone engine bay than you did with the Moonrock to Silverstone bay?
