Default garage floor covering

Hey, I noticed that a lot of professional garages, like at dealer's and other automotive shops, the floor is this squeaky, non slip, kind of a covering. Is it some kind of paint? I'd like to do my garage floor up this way too.

I can't remember what it's called, but I saw it being promoted at one of the booths at the roadster show last year. It looked like a great idea, but I do remember it being kinda pricey. Oh, and it wasn't paint. It's this thin kind of floor covering that adheres to the concrete (if we're thinking about the same thing.)

Believe it or not, when my buddy got new carpet in his house, he laid the old carpet down in his garage, and it works great. Of course it's since gotten pretty stained w/ oil and stuff, but it's amazing how much warmer the garage feels. I'm probably going to do the same thing when I re-carpet my house.

Carpeting definately makes the garage more cozy. I've been using it for years.

I have a 60 by 60 shop with 12x12in square tiles in my shop, very nice and easy to keep clean, just kinda of big.

If you go to www.californiacarcover.com and request a catalog you'll find they sell many types of garage floor coverings.

If you are going to use concrete paint, make sure you get the type that SOAKS into the concrete. You don't want the shiny kind! That is slippery as hell when wet!

Here mine:

If you use the standard deck paint you may want to mix in some sand to give it more grip.

You don't want to use standard paint. It will stick to your hot tires and peel off. You want to use a garage floor sealant, it is usually a two step process, and the coatings are not inexpensive. But if you are going to do it, do it right.
