Default Gas Cap Off For New Clutch?

I just got my car back from the dealership last night after having a new clutch put in (due to clutch buzz it was free), but my CEL came on this morning so I checked the gas cap and it was very loose. Why would this be?

That is very very suspcious, any idea on how much fuel you had before?

There'd be NO reason to have it off.

No honest reason, but with $3 a gallion gas, I can think of a really "good" reason.

They told me that they pulled the trans and had to break the fuel lines. So the gas cap was removed to relieve pressure. Seems logical enough to me.

I don't think that's part of the procedure

you know how much milage you had before you brought it in? It's quite possible they took it for some joy riding and then filled it back up (not tightening it) to the approximate level you had when you brought it in. Just a thought...

SO what did you say to get your clutch done. I have an 00 with onyl 18k miles and I am thinking of taking it in for clutch buzz. Of course i am the second owner so not sure how helpful they will be.

I had just bought the car a month ago. I didnt have to say anything else.

As for mileage, I got 26mpg on this last tank. I normally get between around 27. So I dont suspect they filled the tank back up. If my mileage had been really high I would have felt more like I had the right to accuse them.
