Sounds about what I usually get.

One stretch of highway on my way home from HCII I got 31mpg, which was my best ever.

I'm always cruising at around 75-80mph, with some city driving. I get around 23-24 mpg.

I do mostly city driving. I got 21.2 mpg last fill-up. On the highway, the most I ever saw from my S2000 was 35.4 mpg, but that was in my previous AP2, which was a silverstone '07.
With the CR, I got 28.XX mpg during a mostly highway driving trip about a month or so ago.

theorically, shoulnt CRs get better gas mileage than the base model since they are less air resistance and lighter?

Yes, the extra down force they create translates into drag.

I cannot get better than 25mpg freeway anymore. I'm cruising 75-80 and running 225/255 Z1.
