Default Gas Quality Due to Hurricane Katrina

I'm confused about what the President said in his address about the gas shortage over here. From what I understand they dropped some gas quality and octane requirements. If there is someone with more info could they elaborate and discuss any problems s2000 specific with the gas we'll be getting. I realize we have a knock sensor system that will counter the lower octane we'll probably be getting. I'm more curious on the gas quality issue and any problems the s2000 may encounter.

What EPA is doing is to allow refiners to switch to Fall gasoline specs earlier than usual. This should "stretch" the supply a bit as the specifications are a bit more relaxed.
