[QUOTE=xviper,May 3 2005, 09:01 AM]You might be interested to know that there have been posts on this site in the past from owners who have used ONLY "regular" fuel in their S2000s for MONTHS because they were being cheap.

i was in ny for a week and a half recently and was able to pump gas myself. Is this just area specific for the "no self service" thing? I have never heard of entire states that didn't allow this!

Most service (gas) stations here have smaller nozzles on their premium pumps which fit the smaller diameter filler on my car.

i.e. A regular size nozzle will not fit into the filler of my car (or any late model car using premium or premium unleaded fuel AFAIK).

Is it not the same for you guys? It seems odd to me that attendants can make these mistakes when so much thought has gone into making bowsers idiot-proof.

A lot of stations in California use the same nossle for all grades of gasoline, you just push a separate button for the grade.

Nothing's going to happen to your car, so take it easy. I've driven my car on regular cuz that's all that's was around, and I did this on a full tank. Lots of people have also done it. There was a thread way back when discussing the merits of 87 vs. 91 octane. The consensus, and I can confirm this, is that driving on 87 octane takes away from the acceleration and pick-up of the car when you VTec it. I didn't notice any difference in acceleration when driving the car below 6K rpm. At cruising speed, there was no difference either. As for gas mileage, I don't know and I don't care. If ur a poseur and don't drive hard, regular gaz is ok. Racing fuel is only for mod cars.

One of my friends has an Audi A4 and they just bought it and the dealer told them it used regular gas. So they had been using regular for awhile and the car started to idle funny. Turns out the throttle body had collected a lot of carbon on the inside and had to be cleaned out--I think it cost like $50 but wasnt a problem. But yea, this isnt a problem--don't worry about it.
