^^ That makes sense, always wondered why it was that size.

maybe i'm alone ... but i hate having any form of a reserve. a gauge should be measuring what you have or don't have, and E should mean you are walking. i would much rather know where i stand than see E and then start trying to guess how much farther i 'can' make it. someone figure out that mod, and i'll buy in immediately!

The way it works for me, I know that if I fill up right as the gauge shows no bars, I'll put in about 10.5 gallons. Since the tank holds 13.2, that means I have a further 50 miles or so before I start to get into the danger zone.

It wouldn't add any weight, so if it wasn't too expensive I think it'd be neat to have one of those trip computer things. But I've never had a car with on, so I don't know if it's all that usefull...

All modern cars are designed with a "reserve tank". Usually this "tank" size is about 2 gallons. The idea is that if you're gauge shows E, then technically, you will have more time to get to a gas station.
Well, that's one reason. Another is that the fuel pump on our fuel injected cars is in the fuel tank. It's a high pressure pump because that's what the fuel injection system needs to function properly. The fuel pump uses the fuel as a coolant. No fuel, no coolant. It's one of the reasons they recommend "not" running out of fuel. Having a few gallons left in the tank after the fuel gage goes dark is just Honda's way of encouraging us to do something about it before you really "are" out of gas and possibly do more damage than just having to take a hike!

i get around 18-19 for local commute and about 24-25 on highway....with 13.2 gal cap, someone do the math.....

but i believe most people split the tank doing both types of driving so figure something in between...

I usually show about 240 to 280 miles when I fill up. It really depends on what sort of driving I've been doing.
