Default Gear Selection and Use

I have never owned a six speed automobile before. All my six speed experience has come from the sport bikes I have owned. I test drove an 06 S2K last week and was at a bit of a loss in what to do with sixth gear. I know it will be useful in interstate driving, but what about in other situations? How do you use your six-speed tranny in driving? I guess it all boils down to driving style... Right?

I only use it when cruising, 50 mph and up. Around town I'm usually in fifth.

I use 6th gear even when I'm going only 30-35 mph. Of course, I don't have stock gearing either

i shift pretty much exactly where my owner's manual says to shift:

to 4th at 40
to 5th at 47
to 6th at 52

I only use 6th gear when cruising on the freeway

Cruising in 6th from 45 miles on...

Fuel economy in the S = revs you make!

So city driving = more economic then freeway @90 mph.

Fun in the S = the more revs you make, the hell with economy, you only live once

I'll bet you get a lot better gas milage driving @ 90 for an hour than driving in town for an hour. The engine becomes more efficient and economical when it starts to breath at higher RPM's. In town, idling in traffic, running up thru the gears is always less economical.
