Hey guys when down shifting, normally into first going slow in a parking lot and such i hear whining noises from the rear. Am i doing something wrong or is this normal?

 

I don't hear any noises coming from my diff. I hear a little gear whining coming from the tranny when downshifting, but not from the rear. How long have you noticed this? Have you changed your diff fluid recently?

 

Probably the differential. If you haven't changed the fluid might as well do it now, but some whining is not an issue.

 

i had the same problem about a week ago, i changed my diff fluid and still heard the whine. it ended being my rear brakes, they were going out.

 

I havent heard any on mine unless you have something other than stock gears.

 

it may just be the diff, im not sure i cant really tell between the 2. and as far as i know my gears are stock, i bought the car second hand.

 

so is this anything i should worry about? ill change the diff fluid soon as i get the chance. thanks for the replies
