Default Get I get some tips!

This probably not related to your Honda S2000 car.
I need some tips & help to my on-going Lotus 7 project: Few questions:

1. Is Honda s2000 has in-tank fuel pump?
2. Can I use in-line system ? Walbro 225 is good enough fuel pump?
3. How can I defeat the interlock system? ( i mean, to start the car without going
to the security system) Can I use a resistor to defeat the electronics?
4. If I don't use the catalytic converter, will it trigger an engine code? Limp node?
5. How can I defeat that limp node.
6. Your honda s2000 dash, if you have a choice what gauge you would like to see included or modified?
7. Is the Honda s2000 ECU wiring separate from accessories wiring?
8. Any other advice that phantom to me?

Thanks a million

I believe it's limp mode your referring to
Our body's have a lymph nodes

Anyways, your car will most likely throw a CEL light if you take out the cat. If your car is pre 06 then you can use a mechanical fix to take care of it.
I have an 07 with a test pipe and even with the fix it still throws a CEL
I have to disconnect the battery ever so many days.

Sorry....bringing that jokes "limp nodes" from my other lotus forums. My Lotus V8 is notorius of throwing engine codes. There are phantoms of codes that we can't identify. This limp nodes jokes is the only fix to the problem.

Anyway, the engine and ECU is from 2001. So, what is that mechanical fix you mentioned?

Wow sounds like a really interesting project. Post you're questions in the under the hood forum. You'll be more likely to get good advice there. I can *guess* at the fuel pump, if you like. I believe that it's in the tank, and if this is a swap into a lotus, it shouldn't matter whether the pump is in to tank or not as long as it gives and can maintain the correct pressure.

On the converter. The S2000 has an O2 sensor in the converter that expects to see less O2 than the one upstream to show that the converter is doing it's job. So you need a test pipe with a hole for the O2 sensor. And you need to put a spark plug anti-fouler or 2 on the 02 sensor to isolate it from the exhaust and make it show less O2. Gos2k007 have you tried adding a second plug antifouler?

For the key chip bypass, do some googling. They make bypass systems for aftermarket alarms, so you should be able to find something. Definately see if you can track down a wiring diagram for the S2000 year you swapped from, and good luck. Post pictures when you're done!!!

Talk to these guys. They already have experience with what you're doing.

I don't have plan of turbocharging or using other standalone ecu. I'm looking
for durability and dependability. In a 900lbs car, I don't need turbocharging nor torque.

In the gauge question, I meant what other gauge you would want to add from the stock?

I don't want to use other gauges. I want the stock S2000. Everything, I'm trying to use the stock parts for dependability.

I have been "involved" with several S2000 7s. If you can fit it to your dash supports the whole S2000 dash will transfer and wire up.

There will be a few buttons you don't need but it will work and in my opinion is better than many aftermarket gauge packages. The digital dash is much easier to see when everything is coming at you at light speed.

USE THE CATALYTIC CONVERTER FROM THE S! It is very small, very high flow, won't cost you power, will smooth out your power band slightly and you don't have to worry about throwing codes.

The engine is nearly indestructible and contrary to list wisdom is not subject to high G oiling issues. The Ultralite has been running for many years now pulling many more G's than any S and with real oil gauges they have never found an oil pressure fluctuation in turns. Hardly any are running baffled pans but most have eventually opted for a cut down stock pan for ground clearance.

Ground clearance will be your biggest issue in the 7. To get the ground clearance you will need to raise the engine so high that it pops out the hood unless you cut the oil pan down. A couple of people have opted for a dry sump but it is expensive unless that is the only way you can make it fit.

Brian at WCM Ultralite will get rid of your immobilizer for under $100.
