I have 02 S2000 purchased Dec O1 with 2000 miles. I called the dealer and questioned when I should have oil changed. Replied 3 mo's or 3000 miles. They put 0-20 oil in when changed. Its made by Mobile and is not synthetic. They do not recommed changing to synthetic oil. I called Honda motor Co a while back and they said to add any 10-30 wt oil if needed until first oil change. And go by Honda manual to determine when oil should be changed. And, they deliver all Honda cars with Mobile 10-30. My question is: Does anybody know what 0-20 oil is? No matter who you call you get a different answer regarding oil.Probably enough said about this subject but it drives me nuts that you can't get the same answer from anybody !

I have never heard of 0W-20 oil. I am not even sure if it exists. I am pretty sure though that the stock oil that comes in the S2000 is actually Castrol 10W-30 with an "additive," and not Mobil 1. Mobil 1 really isn't all that it's hyped up to be. After I use Castrol 10W-30 for the first two or three oil changes I plan to switch over to a synthetic like Redline or Amsoil but Mobil 1 aint going in my car ever.

0W-20? Where do you live, Siberia? That oil does exist, but it's for very cold climates. That is very thin oil for the F20C engine. I would have it changed again (not at the same place) to a conventional 10W-30. Doesn't matter which brand. Good luck.

0W20 is the latest recommendation for Honda passenger vehicles.. BUT it is not across the board. Most of their new cars specify 0W20 as it flows faster on a cold start and has much lower pumping losses, but it is not the recommended oil for the S2000.

Got my oil changed at 2000 mi because I've had my car 6 months. So now , I've been told :by Honda Motor Co that . no special break in oil is used when shipped to dealer just Mobil 10-30 W. My dealer has said that they use Castrol 10-30 W. and ,0-20W made by mobil. Two days later after the app't was made to change the oil the same dealer put in Pennzoil 10-30W. Unbelievable ! Can you beat that ?

0-20W oil is made by Honda - and originally formulated and used for the Honda Insight. I am not aware of any other company making 0-20W oil.

Did you bother to read your manual as to when you should have your oil changed? It states that for severe driving, change it at 3750 with 10W-30. Otherwise, at 7500 or one year. Please read your manual and don't ask your dealer.

D.M. You are right as rain re: the manual. And I have read it several times over. But who is to say what is normal and what is severe driving. I would say my driving would classify as normal. However, I have never driven more that 3000Mi before changing the oil under any condition in any car. Would you ? Also, if you can't believe your dealer who can you believe? Thanx for ans. my problem, I appreciate it.

I change my oil every 5,500 miles or so with Mobil 1 Synthetic and could care less what anyone else says about that! With an '02 that has over 24k miles already, if it makes me happy, then that's all that matters!

I was mainly referring to an owners first oil change. They (whoever they are) say that there are special additives in the break-in oil to better help seat everything properly. I went to approx. 3800 miles before my first oil change. I will be getting the oil changed at 7500 miles and every 3750 thereafter.
