Default Getting Oil Change Fri....question....

My car just hit 4100 (I know the change is at 3750, but they didnt have appointments until fri)

So, my question is, should I get anything else changed for my first service...Tranny fluid, diff fluid...etc.

Thanks

I would replace the differential fluid along with the oil. If the shifting still feels okay, then you can leave the tranmission fluid in place. If it's starting to feel notchy, go ahead and replace transmission fluid too.

When they drain the differential fluid, see if you can take a look at it when it's out. You will be surprised of the condition of the fluid after only ~4000 miles.

Stick with what's recommended in the owners manual. If you like add'l maintenance follow the more liberal schedule. Changing fluids too often certainly won't hurt, it just may be unnecessary and waste of $$.

I did some reading in under the hood. The reccomendation seems to be changing the diff fluid ever other oil change. I was planning to leave it until the second oil change, but mabey I will change it now. I will have to do some more looking.

Thanks Fester.

All the more reason to stcik with the schedule. They'll have it on record and you won't run into problems come lease end. No extra points for over-maintaining a leased car...

Read this thread before you go to the dealer.

Make sure they use the right filter, we are getting a lot of stories about dealers not having a clue what the right filter is for our car!

The 3,750 change is only for severe driving conditions, do you fit into one or more of these?

Maintenance Schedule for Extreme Conditions.

This schedule is to be followed if you drive in one or more of these conditions most of the time:
Trips of less than 5 miles (less than 10 in freezing weather)
Extremely hot weather (over 90 degrees F)
Extensive idling or stop-and-go driving
Trailer towing, driving with a car-top carrier, or driving in the mountains
Muddy, dusty, or de-iced roads

If not, then you're first oil change isn't until 7,500.

I think I fit that.....my trips to work are about 12 miles, and since Im in NYC, a lot of stop and go traffic. Also, I got my car over the summer, so I think I fit the description.
