Default Getting ready to buy an '04

First post here. Just checking in to see what everyone is saying about the S2K. I'm really excited about getting it. This is it:

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAP...TRK%3AMEWA%3AIT

It will actually be my wife's car, but I have a feeling I'll be driving it plenty!

If I can get the right price I will go down and get it this weekend. Question is should I wait till the auction ends and see if the reserve is met or call the guy up and try to work out a deal before hand.

Never hurts to try and make a deal early. Call him up and ask what the researve is and if it's reasonable, make an offer somplace close, but just below it.

I think I will call. I've been looking at what most are asking and I'm getting a little discouraged. I was hoping for somewhere in the 25K range but it looks as though 28K may be closer to the truth. If so I'll probably try to get a new '05 for 31K or so if possible. Well the only way to find out is to call.

I believe that goes against ebay policy.

You should be able to pick up a new MY04 for about 29.5K. Maybe a bit less but now much. The dealer will still be getting about 1K hold back. Come to think of it, you should be able to buy new 05's for 31K most anywhere and some have done a bit better so maybe 29K would not be out of line on an 04 new car. They will still make 500.

Oh wow, I saw that listing the other day as I was browsing eBay. That is at the Honda Dealer about 2 miles from my house!

Good luck on it! I am picking up my '02 in Tampa this Saturday!

I would think that you should be able to get it close to 28k no sweat since its got some miles on it. 6200 ain't a lot I know, but its not like its 600 miles!

I think Ebay Auto has slightly different rules/fees as the car is still on the lot and for sale to anyone who may happen into the dealership and buy it. Technically since I saw it on E-bay it may be a violation if I buy it outside of E-bay, but if the seller is honest with E-bay I don't think it's a problem. As I said I think the final value fees etc. are different on the Auto section. Correct me if I'm wrong.

[QUOTE=ratcat,Jan 20 2005, 07:15 PM] Well I'd be torn on paying 28 for a used 04 and just getting an 05 for a few thousand more.
