I'm sorry. Could you please remind me how buying a membership has any correlation with insurance rates?

Let me rephrase... It's people who are too young to pay for this car themselves and then proceed to wreck it because they don't respect it that make our insurance rates so high. Clear?

To the OP: If your parents insist on buying this car for you ( ), and you insist on letting them, PLEASE be careful, for your and all our sakes.

Congrats to the owner of another soon-to-be wrecked s2000 !

Any parent who buys this car for their kid is an idiot.

Unbelievable...
Excuse me? I purchased my car when I was 18 with the help of my mother, and I bet you I'd outdrive you any day of the week.

Again, I repeat...hit the track at least once. All these drivers that think they have skills because they drive like an idiot on a canyon haven't even experienced 8/10ths of the cars limits, and if they got in a wreck, they reached the limits of their skill...not the cars.

to the OP,

well congrats, enjoy the soon to be had car. you're going to love it. i would suggest the following:

get into auto-x. It's cheaper than track days and HPDE, you can get a feel for the car, and you can push it at slow speeds where if you mess up, you spin out and are good to go. After you auto-x you'll drive so controlled on the streets because you'll know that you can't do anything even close to auto-x, so it's not worth it

I'm 22 i have a MY02, i pay about $85 a month insurance, no accidents, no tickets, again enjoy the car but take it to where you can really use it.

Enjoy,

Matt

Totally forgot about autocross. Hitting cones is better than hitting a wall. And yes, it's cheaper and lower speed.

Because you know what my performance driving experience is and yours is definitely superior to that, right? Grow up and quit E-thugging. Its called a generalization because it is generally true. There are exceptions to every rule, and if you are one of those exceptions, great...I'm glad mommy could help you out.

if you are going to be stereotyping everyone, imo you need to grow up.

If I had a 19 year old kid, I wouldn't give her or him an S2000, that's for sure.

wow, its just a car. imo people who think a new driver cannot drive an s2000 is simply jealous that they weren't fortunate enough to have such a car at a younger age. quit attacking this kid and let him enjoy the exitement of the car.

grow up.

Well, techincally i'm not getting it for free. I've been working at my parent's store for about 8 years now without asking them for anything in return. I also kept my grades up in school and didn't get into trouble. I also had to take care of my 2 brothers because both of my parents worked.

And to TB, don't worry, I have enough common sense to not do something stupid. I have had interest in cars since I was in elementary school so this is sort of a dream come true, to finally own a sports car of my own. Thanks for your concern but I think I'm old enough to handle this much responsibility.

I can't wait until I get it though, we're still waiting to see if we can get a better price than 30k before tax/license because some people in this forum even claimed to have bought it cheaper at the Capital Honda.
