Glad I didn't
I recently poseted a reply to "S2K as a daily driver" thread and made me think about something that happend yesterday.
My wife is a school teacher and is now off for the summer. As I was leaving for work I checked to see if she was going anywhere for the day (she cannot drive a stick) as I was going to drive her car to work.
I usually drive the car when we go out on the weekends, but not usually during rush hour traffic, and a long commutes. The whole way to work I missed the tight, precise steering, manual transmission, and the welcome mechanical sounds of the S. The TL is an exceptional car but when compared with the S it has numb steering, mushy brakes, automatic transmission that gives no feel of a shift, and little if any outside or mechanical noise. To make things worse all day I saw, Boxters, Miatas, M3s, Z3s with thier tops down
I couldnt wait to get in the S when I got home
The relevance of the subject line of this thread is this;
I had ordered my S2K August of 2000 with a delivery date of March 01'. During this time many things happend, one of which was a sudden job change in Janurary (my previous employer allowed be $500/mo for a car). Because of the job change I thought it would be more practical for me to get a CL Type S than the S2K. I drove the salesmen at the two dealerships crazy (Honda and Acura dealerships are owned by the same individual), leaned toward the CL until I test drove the car. This car was a bit different than my wifes TL but it was far from a sports car.
At the end of February the Honda dealer called and let me know my car would be coming in on March 5th. I went up to look at the car, still thinking that the CL was a "smarter" choice. The car had been kept in the service area so it was safe at all times, when I saw it for the first time I was in awe. I took the car for a test drive, 30 seconds into the drive the decision had been made.
From March 10th to today, roughly 3 months, I have not enjoyed a vehicle more.

we really do have a special little car to enjoy, don't we.
big up's to Sochiro for his vision and the engineers at Tochigi for having the knowledge and drive.
we took the s into work this morning because we knew that the drive home would be beautiful. i smiled the whole way in.
