are you serious? what is 'rice' about an extra storage place? If done well and it does blend well with the rest of the interior (which Rick seems to have no problem doing) I don't see what your talking about. Rick, count me in as well! I usually put my sunglasses in the 'secret' compartment, and it's a pain to get them out of there, especially if I've already started driving without them on...
