Default Glue for Ricks wind screen

Hey people,

i have some really bad luck with the bumpers for the headrest for ricks 7/8 windcreen.

What type do all of you use? Where did you get it from? i don't live close to a hobby store so those places are out.

Thanks!

I used super glue. It worked too well. The bumpers have been squeaking against the screen and I don't like how it looks. So I tried to remove one and was left with an ugly black patch of rubber and super glue.
I wish I had left it stock.

Ah yes, I've experimented with a bunch of different glues for this one.

The best one I've found is...........Silicone Sealant. Works like a charm. Gives enough to withstand the "tapping" at higher speeds, holds great and (best of all) if you need to remove them and try another spot it won't leave a scar on the roll hoop.

Tip: the higher up you place the bumpers, the less rattle you'll get.

I had them glued in last year but they actually wore down (the tapping - thanks for the hint on gluing them high) i have a whole collection of glues for Ricks stuff now i can't remeber which one worked.... super glue does not work!!!

Thanks

It should. That's what I used. Do you use alcohol to clean off the spots you put the bumpers? That plastic leaches fumes for quite some time. A good scrubbing with alcohol is essential.

Yes cleaned them off good, they gave up the ghost half way from NJ to NH on a road trip.

Yeah Dave, I found super glue to be too brittle and would not give enough when tapped at freeway speeds. That is why I went with something more giving like Silicone. It flexes enough to keep a good hold - even at 125+ mph (don't ask me how I know - haha).

S2KNJ - I used "Shoo Goo" just because I had some laying around, but really all of the silicone sealants are the same. Aquarium sealant works too, whatever. It is just that gummy clear glue.

How high do you have them mounted "EX"?
