Default Going on a 6hr trip

Is it bad to have the car reving at 5-5.5 rpm for a long period of time. Im going to be going on a trip for thanksgiving and I usually go around 85-90.

Thanks

It's only bad for your gas mileage. Just think of it as you're only going 5/9's of your full RPM range.

I'd slow down a bit with 4.77s on a long trip. No need to drive so fast on a 6 hour trip.

i did a 14 trip one way and back a week later consistently going 90mph. no problems at all. i guess the rpm was a bit lower but i don't think it would make much difference. used to have the integra gs-r (8k redline) and did monthly 6 hr trips for over a year. treated it like a piece of crap and put on 150k miles before it got stolen. honda engines=bulletproof. but that's just me.

Nothing to worry about. I wouldn't slow down either, seems like pre-vtec the car runs a bit more lean so your gas mileage won't be much worse than if you went slower.

speaking of the engines bulletproof my 1986 accord lx-i got shot three time with a 30 ounce 6; one in the distributor, one straight throught the Battery, and the other one went through the firewall. drove like a charm still

No, not bad. I think it was XViper who liked to point out that its only an extra 1k rpm and you're only at 60% redline. The worst of it is slightly lower mpg than if you had stock gears.
