Default going to the track, take off hardtop?

so i will be going to the track for the very first time, and i'm wondering should i leave my hardtop on? or take it off. i will be wearing a helment, so the wind blowing in my hair factor wont be there. does the hardtop provide some type of aerodynamics or should i take if off for the weight reduction. also, anything else i should know before going to the track? thanks in advance.

And I notice I drive better with the top up because there's less noise and distraction. And I'm 10mph faster in the straights.
Personally, I'd leave it on.

I'd leave it on. There is a lot more drag with it off. Top down, we drive bricks.

I could have sworn I read the S2k is a little faster top down on the track. It could have just been that one test though.

I personally prefer having the top up and windows down to hear the tires, but not get overly distracted by noise. Occasionally I have the radio on too though...

You might well have read that, along with reports of Elvis sightings, Bigfoot sightings, etc.

Some track organizations will not allow an S2000 to run without either a hardtop or a roll bar; the stock "roll hoops" won't cut it for some promoters.

this definitely happened on at least one review, but it was for a convertible top up/top down. They attributed it to a better weight distribution - something I highly doubt.

depends on the track, I like it down on a short track (slower) because it offers much better visibility, but if the track has got any kind of speed, id leave the top on.

If it's your first time, the drag from not having a hard top is the least of your problems. Do whatever you're comfortable with. There's no one-size-fits-all answer if you can't tell from the responses above.

I leave mine on. It offers the same amount of visibility as having the top down. No need to look back or up.
