Default good deal for a 00 $9200 ?

what would you say would be a good deal for a s2k with 98k on it. no records. clean title / clean carfax.
3k mile regular oil changes. car runs strong. but has cosmetic issues (needs new top, tear in seats, tear on middle console, and a few dings and front bumper has scratches.

paint is all original, car is all original, vins match.

so say the car is in fair condition.

what you guys think would be a great deal? taking into consideration the cosemtic and needing the 100k coming up.

the blue book is about $12500 fair condition.

What price did he/is he offering? With what you said I would not pay more than 10-11k. It will cost around 4-5k to make the car look like a 00' again. Just my opinion. 00' should still look nice and pretty, I have a 01' with one door ding and I really do not know how I got it. It's near my antenna, obviously a SUV door did it.

A great deal would be $5k considering the needed repairs.

I didn't even know you could get an s2k for this much money. thats like pocket change... I say who cares about cosmetic issues... you can buy another oem seat on here for a couple hundred... same with soft-top... the middle consol is carpet anyway, so buy a leather one from ricks. You have to expect bumper damage on a my00 with that many miles too.

I say bargain a little bit with him, do a compression test and then take it away.

Definitely do a compression test and set aside some money to replace the valve spring retainers. You don't know the history on the car, and if it had an over-rev in it's past, it could be a time bomb. And Billman has been seeing more non-over-rev early AP1s coming to his shop with cracked retainers...seems age is a factor.

Unless you can do the work yourself, you should set aside about $500. Note that you do not need to remove the head to do this.

And for the interior pieces...check with Cyclon about recovering seats and consoles:
