$30,000 for a 21 year old car seems fine if you consider it an "investment" and don't intend to drive it or modify it in any way. Maybe a couple thousand mines a year at most. And it's no better or worse than a $15,000 car from a recreational standpoint. But there are people paying stupid prices for non-collector cars like ours. 65,000 were imported, not 650.

Only money of course -- your money.

There are a gazillion better ways to invest money than buying an ap1 s2k with 30K miles for nearly $30K and paying to hold and maintain it for 20 years, which is what it will take to make any money whatsoever. A savings account at 1% would probably do better.

Yup, I never look at my S2000 as a monetary investment, rather an investment in smiles and happy thoughts when I go out to the garage and see it, work on it, or drive it. If it's worth something after I enjoyed it, icing on the cake. Life is too short to try to make money off something this much fun. I do take very good care of her and only use for serious fun, not point A to B daily grind drives. At the rate we drive and short season good weather it will have a whopping 60K miles on the dial in 20 years time and might still be worth something.

You did notice "investment" was in quotes?

Well, If you were not interested in the car as an "investment", I suppose the increase in prices might help in the worst case scenario of your car getting totaled in a crash. You might get a bit more for a replacement if you are so inclined.

the drive was amazing. pulled hard. got them down to $26,750. it had a check engine light on, and I wanted to sleep on it.

seriously felt like a brand new untouched interior and exterior

When I got mine it had the same miles on it. I got it 2 years after the one original owner purchased it new. It also felt like a brand new untouched interior and exterior. I also paid the same price as you!

CA law requires the SELLER to have a passable smog inspection.
