Default Good price in the SF Bay Area?

I'm going to be in the market for an '03 S2000 pretty soon and was wondering if anyone knows a dealer that will give me a fair price? I see people on the east cost getting their cars for a couple hundred over invoice, is that possible out here? Thanks in advance.

If you're serious about saving money, buy from Chicago or Boston and have it shipped. I found invoice and below in both areas. Shipping runs from about $800-1500 depending on open carrier or closed carrier.

If you want to order one, you can probably go with an open transport as long as they keep all the protective paper on.

I figured for a brand-new '03, it would cost me $29,785 (invoice) plus $800 = $30,585. I doubt ANY California dealer's gonna go there.

Honda of Joliet seems to be a good dealer that people have had good luck with ... I got my new '02 from Honda Cars of Boston. PM me if you want more details.

DON'T GO TO HONDA of OAKLAND!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I hear Mike Harvey in San Mateo is having a sale, although this was a while back they are a very reputable dealership for both Honda/Acura.

Might wanna check 'em out.

I got mine at San Leandro Honda thru their internet division. My rep was Kim Hoang. Their prices for '03 was MSRP. That was last November, might have gone down by now.

Try Elk Grove Honda. Their Internet manager Blair is an S2K owner. Check for one of his posting under the Sacramento Club forums.

We just barely got the Bay Area dealers down to MSRP, don't expect much better than that, especially if you wait until the recent "cold" weather is over.

Depends on the color you want, too. Forget MSRP on Suzuka, they will add a few grand. Spa, too. If you're looking for red, black or silver, you may get lucky. Not sure about white, they're just about as rare as blue. Check outside the Bay Area, like perhaps the Central Valley. That way, you can enjoy a nice drive north and break-in your new S nicely.

Definitely, if you don't mind the drive(I think it's like 2-3 hours), I know that the dealership here in Fresno(Honda North) has been advertising in the paper their new S2000's for $29,995. A club member stopped by there the other day to get his clutch fixed he told me that there were "a lot" of them sitting on the lot. I think because of winter, they're having a real tough time selling them. I'm not sure if they were 02 or 03's though. Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't think there was any differences between the 02 and 03's were there? Anyways, I bought mine from there about a year ago and they sold my Sebring for MSRP. At that time(not sure about now), it was tough to get MSRP and they were willing to match any price from any other dealership. I got a quote for MSRP through email from another dealership. I printed it out, took it to them, and they matched it.

It looks like their site is currently down http://www.hondanorthdirect.com but you might try emailing them or giving them a call.

Good luck

of course dealerships in the bay area aren't going to offer a sale at msrp or less. if that's something you come to expect, you're destined to pay more regardless of where you go. letting a dealer tell you that suzuka, spa, or any other color is going to cost you more is, again, just another way for a salesman to tag on any extra profit that he/she can. if you honestly believe you must pay more for one color over another, then the salesmen have already won before you even step foot on the lot.

i worked the price down on my S2000 that i bought last month without any difficulties. i purchased the car from an SF bay area dealership. if you are having trouble locally, i'd suggest doing what s2k_redhead is doing. that's what i did with my first S2000 when i made the mistake of trying to find one at MSRP during the summer season.

dont settle for MSRP. you can do better.
