Indeed, nothing that I know of compares to the S02, I had the S03's and they were without-a-doubt pale in comparison.

Well, I ended up getting a Altima 2.5 SL. I've been driving it for a week now and I'm happy with it. It handles very good and the peppy 175 HP/180 TQ is enough to get me around but not too much to let me get in trouble. I really like the heated seats and the Bose stereo it comes with...
My wife has a BMW X5 and so we have been spoiled by BMW's luxuries...but to my surprise the 22K Altima is keeping both of us happy as a commuter car.
So what's next! Well, I figure I'll take it easy for a while and when I come into a bit of money I'll start looking at a weekend sports car again...
As of right now my whishlist includes the following:
Another S2K...If they ever increase the tourqe...maybe in 05 I've been hearing???
Nissan Z ---Track edition of course.
And if I come into a lot of money then I'd be looking at
The 2005 Lotus Esprit
AMG version of the SL500...whatever they all it, I think SL 55
For now its back to safe driving for me while I hybernate for a few years.
God bless you all S2K owners and please be careful out there...Cherish your cars...I think only us S2Kers know the pleasure of owning such a fine sports car. I really miss her :-(

Dear Allan,
Thanks for posting your story and good luck with your new Altima.
I did the same penny-wise pound foolish thing about 15 years ago with a Dodge K car. The fronts were worn out but the rears were okay. I put on brand new fronts with a little wider, more performance orientation. I bought four tires but planned to get a few more miles on the rear. Then I drove up to the mountains to go skiing. On my way home, the first time I lightly braked in a curve, the front stayed put and the rear went spinning. I did a 540 deg spin and ended up facing backwards in a snow bank. Only the Wyoming winter white stuff saved me from totaling the car.
My gosh, the K car was a miserable beast. Who would have guessed you could get in so much trouble with only 85 hp.

As you've painfully learned, mixing tires like this is a serious mistake.
I'm very sorry that your car was so severely damaged, but happy that you're ok.
I hope others here learn from your mistake, and you are to be applauded for the courage to admit it and post it.
