Goodbye S2Ki and my S2000
Goodbye S2Ki and fellow members ...
This is truly a sad day for me. While this outcome was certainly of high probability, it's not the one I wanted it to be. I will be selling my dear S within the next two months, because I'll be relocating to the other side of the world for an extended period of time for work -- perhaps for at least over two years. I've been trying to dogfight to stay on this side of the world for the last few months, but such is life and there is a whole host of professional and politcal reasons that made the staying option unavailable or at least not practical.
Although most of you don't even know who I am other than the fact that I have a platinum membership (please don't ask how I got it), I truly feel privileged to own one of the greatest piece of engineering in human history and am proud to be part of the S2Ki community.
As I have said in the past, I've driven many more expensive cars; I've yet to find a sportscar under 100K USD (or sometimes even more expensive) that comes anything close to the S when it comes to driving experience, yet be able to go for a 3 hour road trip without breaking my back or have other mechanical failures.
Honda engineers have nailed what a true performance car should feel like. Sure the Evo could outrun the S in a straight line, the M3 could bite harder around the corner, but the S is just one notch above all the other cars when it comes to overall driving experience. I've thought about trading the S in for another car, but everytime after driving another car, I would hop back to the little S. There has never been one single time that I came out of the S telling myself that I really want to get rid of the S ...
In any case, I hope I could one day own an S2000 again during my relocation to Hong Kong, even though I will miss America's fun AutoX sessions and track days -- which are which this car was really made for ...
