Default Goodwill Advice?

OK so I just bought my S2000 (a 2000 model year) on Monday. It's got the TSB 00-054 clutch buzz problem. I have spent the week checking out the forums and trying to find a good course of action. From what I can tell, my best bet is to ask for a "goodwill consideration" solution to this problem.

Here's the thing: this car only have 9,000 miles on it, but it's out of the 3-year warranty period that I read about. I'm 23, and obviously haven't beat on this vehicle because I've only had it for a week. My question is this: how should I go about asking for a goodwill consideration? i.e. How can I go about getting in contact with the right Honda rep? Besides mentioning the TSB, what else would make a good case for helping me out? And, has there been much luck getting this clutch plate fixed out of warranty by anyone?

Sorry if I have stepped on the toes of other posts with these questions, but I just haven't been able to find the info I'd like by searching the forums all week.

I don't think TSB's are limited by warranty.

You are correct.

Honda will deny performing TSBs whether you are IN or OUT of warranty!

Your best bet is to use a dealer that is proven in your area to be a good S2K resource. Check your local forum, and ask where they go. If you are close enough to HardTopGuy, it can be wirth the effort. Not sure of your logistics though.

Best of luck,
Hockey

Be aware that most of the time, goodwill is only available for the original owner. If you do indeed get some consideration, you have gotten GOODwill indeed!

Also, go in to the dealer well prepared. Print out some of our threads regarding the clutch buzz, so they can't claim that they have never heard of it.

In addition, have the car in emaculate condition. They will be much more inclined to take care of you if they see that you also take good care of the car. Finally, don't show up in jeans and a tee shirt. Dress like a professional, and they just may treat you that way.

This may seem minor, but I have personally witnessed it work.

Just to let you know, I had that TSB done on my 2001 S2000. I now have 48,800 miles on it and occasionally I hear it again. It's not anywhere near as often but it is there.

Thanks
