Has anybody tried a supersprint or comtech system?

Huh... You know what I always found odd.. With the new rating systems, a lot of cars "lost" a fair amount of HP in their ratings. The S2k lost only 3. I wonder if they compensated to some extent with a slightly less restrictive exhaust to minimize the change in rating.

[QUOTE=R11,Mar 13 2006, 04:56 PM]First of all, the helmholtz resonator is the little "weenie", or short piece of piping that is welded in at an angle and capped off.

Again, you are asking about the short capped off piece of pipe that's welded in at a 90 degree angle right? IIRC, mine is simply a regular *round* piece of pipe but I'd have to check to make sure. If you really want to know I'll take a look tonight after work if it's still dry out . I could be wrong but I rather doubt that the exhaust actually changed at all on the '06 as there would have been no reason for them to do it.

Cover the hole? I thought another bung needed to be fabricated onto the intake to accommodate the new sensor.

Well, I talked to the counter guy at my local dealer's parts department. He checked his eight *feet* of shelf space dedicated to clips (!) for the clip I busted putting the alarm's hood switch on my '06, and found that the little plastic phillips-head screw in clip is special to the S2000, and would have to be ordered for $4 a pop thank you very much.

Anyway, I then asked the guy to check out the part numbers for the B-pipe in the '06 and the '05. They're different. He said he really had no way of knowing why the two years had a different part number for this part and, unlike an autoparts store, they don't have any cross-reference information, so there's no way of determining compatibility between any two model years -- either the part numbers match (and are compatible), or they don't.

So, I guess it's gonna take someone getting an '05 up on a lift and taking pictures, and someone else doing the same for an '06. I'm certainly game to do my part in solving this mystery -- does anyone in my area have access to a lift so I can take some pictures?

Don't know if this helps or not:

I don't recall the resonator being oval though. I could have sworn it was round.
