Well yesterday afternoon at 4pm I travelled to my local
Honda dealer to pick up my beautiful new Red S2k. Here
are a few of my first impressions..

As I arrived at the dealers it had started to REALLY rain. After
reading many posts on here about the "lively tail characteristics" the S2k
has in the wet I was starting to get a little apprehensive. I thought "Oh
no, I'm going to spin it leaving the forecourt!".

My apprehension soon dissipated when I laid eyes on her, gleaming
(through the rain drops) outside the dealership. I forgot how
formidable the car looks from close up with it flared nose section
wrapped tightly around the front wheels. The sharp line of the flanks
insinuating speed even when she's sitting still.. Anyway! Once
the formalities of handover where taken care of and me and my girlfriend
where settled nicely into the cabin, I turned the key and pushed
"the red button" firing the engine instantly into life.

Pulling away, I was surprised, firstly, that I did not spin
the car as I left the forecourt and secondly how solid the car felt.
Also, bearing in mind that I may have become a little paranoid
about the wet handling of the car after reading a few horror posts by
some unfortunate fellow owners, I was impressed that it felt very secure
while cornering. NOT that I was taking any liberties! It was a
pleasant surprise though.

The engine, coupled with that large arcing digital tacho, was urging me
to rev it to the heavens, but I resisted, taking heed to what has
been said on this board. The temptation to leather it is great (after
owning and Integra R I know what is coming!) and I don't think I am going
to be able to hold out for more than about 5 days, so I'm going to
visit some friends in Lands End (300+ miles each way) before the urge
becomes too much!

Pulling up at my house I fitted my new Muz Mat (Thanks again Muz) which
looks great and allowed me to drop the roof without the worry of scratching
it's new surface. As I lowered the roof the sun peeked out of the clouds
for the first time and I immediately push the lever into first gear and went
for a "little" drive - which turned out to be 80 miles! Maybe I don't
need to plan that long trip!

Anyway, I digress. I love this car, I love it's looks, the colour, the
engineering (which I haven't even stretched yet!) and the fact that I have
learned so much already about the car from you guys (and gals) on here.

Here's hoping I can now add a little of my own experiences to this great
site and, I know it's only Wednesday but enjoy the weekend, I will!

Best,

Enjoy!! I know how you felt. The first night I got mine I just wanted to drive somewhere anywhere. I took a short drive and then went home and settled down with the owners manual reading until quite late with frequent trips outside just to admire my car.

Welcome, Gary! Yes, red is by far the best color. I think you'll find that the wet weather characteristics are not too bad as long as you take it a little easier in the wet; however, as the rear tread becomes marginal, the rears have a tendency to hydroplane on the highway if you're not careful.

Thanks lvs2k, I'll bare that in mind. I did feel a lot
better after driving the car fro a while in the wet. I
guess it was not such a bad time to pick it up!

S2ko: Stange you should say that, I fell asleep in bed
witht he owners manual on top of me!!
