Tell him the s2000 will destroy his back, and that youll never let him drive it anyway.

Pay for it yourself so he can't find fault with it, or find another car that you like. Not to sound harsh or anything, but unless he's really ready to get rid of the volvo (which it doesn't sound like he is), then I don't see how you can in good conscience get an s2k.

Let him test drive an S2000, there will be a Volvo for sale in the front yard before you know it.

My advice would be, as mentioned before, to let him drive it. If he likes the car then you can buy it together. If not, hold up till you can get it yourself.

Yep - the body-roll in the C70 convertible is crazy!

The C70 and S2000 are definitely built for different target markets..

Come on man. Grow up. Based upon what you've said you've got a simple choice. Do you want an S2000 so much that you're willing to have your Dad trade in a car he loves as much as you think you'll love the S2000. If all this is true then you've just got to decide whether you're a selfish, spoiled brat or not. If it were me I'd say "Dad I know you love your car and I don't want you to part with it. If that's part of the deal then I won't get the S2000." But that's just me.
