Got Pulled Over for the 1st time in the S
So tonight at about 1:45am or so I got pulled over
, by the local Montgomery County Police. I saw him as I came over the top of a Hill, he was sitting at an intersection with his lights off, and a bit away from the street lights. I knew it was a cop the moment I saw him. So I did my usual routine of slowing down by downshifting a bit. But since it was late night and no one was on the road (3 lanes each side) I decided to not slow down as much as I normally would
.
When I was about a 100 yards past him, he turned on his headlights and turned to follow me,
I saw couple of slow moving cars up ahead whome i was closing in on, so again without pressing the brakes I slowed to about 35 - 40, but i could see the cop was closing in on me, then i saw the red and blue lights
, and I pulled over immeadiately to a sort of extra bit of road on the side where busses stop.
I throw my ciggarette out the windows and turn off the radio,
and open both windows, and run the fan for a second or two at full blast to clear the smoke.
Cop: Im officer X from Moco PD, I pulled you over because you were doing 54 in a 35.
Me: Oh Im sorry I thought it was a 45.
Cop: (Leans in to smell my breathe?) let me see your lic and reg
Me: Ok (fumble for wallet, find lic and give to him) My reg is in this compartment I got to shutoff the car. (more fumbling through various reciepts and crap) Its got to be in here somewhere.
Cop: This is your car?
Me: Yeah
Cop: What are you coming from anyway?
Me: School
Cop: Where do you go to school?
Me: Maryland
Cop: What were you doing at school this late?
Me: Building race cars
Cop: Ok when you find your registration hold it out the window (he goes back to his car with my lic)
Me: ok (more fumbling, till i find it and hold it out the window)
Cop: (Comes back, hands my lic to me, doesnt even glance at the reg in my hands) Ok have a good night, but slow down.
Me: Thanks! Sorry
Moral of the story: He let me go, without even a written warning. I think thats pretty good considering im a 22yr old not-white male, and going 155% of the speed limit. Btw 1st time in an S, third time in total in 5yrs of driving.
I wonder what would have happened if i had told him that i saw him from way far away, and he should pick a better hiding spot.

i got pulled over once around golden gate bridge and got a $250 fine
a week later when going down to LA the state trooper was on the other lane , i was going 89 , he turned on the siren and started doing a u turn , i floored the pedal and ran away to the next exit and hid under a dead end for 20 min. Funny thing is the state trooper pulled me again 35 min later but couldnt give me a ticket cause 30 minutes passed.
it was a dumb thing to do to run away like that so i wont recommend it

Catch and release stories are great. once I kinda failed to notice a cruiser two cars back getting on the freeway. i had a bad nite and kept the pedal buried for a bit and lifted around 130. That is when it hit me, possible cruiser on my tail. He was sooooooooooooooooooo far back it wasn't funny (cop: that is a damn fast car). i was pulled over for doing way over 100. No ticket, just a situation that required an hour to resolve. I don't know if i have a point, but sometimes you get lucky.
Oh yeah i did. How did he know you were doing 54? He knew this how? radar? Laser? god? visual? pacing? Never gotten a warning when i've been radar'd or laser'd...... now visuals are a whole different story. Better enjoy it while you can, the court is pretty scewed up now.

Wait so you saw the cop then sped past him or did I misunderstand?
Also be careful about the cigarette . . . in the So Cal forum there is a member that dropped his cig out the window while getting pulled over and got a $$$ littering ticket, not even a speeding ticket!
