I am considering getting a GPS. Any suggestions? I am looking for a unit that is somewhat portable with a map like interface. Garmin seems to have some interesting products.

I have a garmin 12 channel and it works great. IMO they have a good design, form and function.

Garmin model with the color screen! It rocks. It retails for $699, but I have seen them sell regularly on eBay for $450-500. It appears to be a good choice. Portability is key.

I had installed the Alpine CVA-1000 unit with GPS in my Porsche and was sorry that I couldn't take it from car to car. As a result, it got little use.
