I have been told, and I've also noticed it myself, that if I gradually increase the engine speed to over 6000 RPM, then the VTEC does not seem to kick in. Is this true? If I really step on the gas then I notice the VTEC kicking in at 6000 RPM and feel the rush along with the (slight) change in sound.

Any other comments on engaging VTEC? Thanks.

For Vtec to work fully it needs lots of fuel and air. If you
have not got the accelerator fully depressed, you would be better
off in the next gear.

The cams engaged by Vtec are basically race cams, if your gonna
rev it that high you should be intending to go as fast as you can.

So leather it!

I believe the VTEC engages purely on the oil pressure which is a function of the RPM and possibly the current oil level... But bottom line, you're not going to feel a surge if you're not accelerating! "Leather it" as GT2000 says.

From what I understand, VTEC is also throttle position activated. Go WOT and it activates sooner.

Well this has been discussed before... VTEC activates the same with wot or mild throttle as long as you get the revs up... that being said if you don't give it any fuel to all that newfound lift and duration with... guess what? Mild VTEC. Pedal to the metal or quit complaining!!

The thing that made VTEC the most clear to me was the video of how VTEC kicked in -- anyone remember where that video is? It was back from the beginning of the year when someone posted it...
